Spring Break

March 13, 2019

Our weather seems to be granting us an extended Spring season. So if you are here for Spring Break, you have chosen a great place to maximize your time.  Water temps have hovered around 70 for several weeks and that looks to continue with a cold front arriving this weekend. That will secure a prolonged Spring season, keeping fish in place for several more weeks. We won’t be complaining, because the fishing has been on fire. The snook are of course cooperating, as are redfish and even some fun small tarpon.

Something New

Spring Break weeks mark a time when we will divide our attention between the flats fishing and the mackerel run off the beaches. Both are super fun for all skill levels. The kingfish have arrived and will be providing those lucky anglers with screaming drags.

Lastly, for all you fly fisherman, now is a great time to target hungry fish. Sightfishing is as good as it gets. Water on the flats is crystal clear and the fish are on the prowl. Deceiver patterns are the perfect choice as they mimic the favorite bait of the flats species right now.
