Escape the Cold, Enjoy Our Warmth
Escape the Cold
I often shake my head when I see the national weather map and see the low numbers everywhere. Except here, and maybe SoCal. January and February in North America means very cold temps and often snow for most people. I talk with many clients about ice fishing, which I guess is fun. I would argue that a trip to Florida with a 75 degree day would be more fun….
Enjoy Our Warmth
Florida is a big state, and geographically it runs many hundreds of miles from north to south. To escape the cold, head south. How far south? Tampa Bay is about the point at which we swing into the full sub-tropical zone. Our summer wet season is full tropical. But that means that the winter is very comfortable and temperate. Our non-tropical winter season is dry and fair, and it triggers fish into feeding.
What to Expect
Winter in the Tampa Bay area means backcountry fishing and bottom fishing in the bay. The backcountry fishing for snook, trout, and redfish is great fun with sightfishing in the clear waters a blast. The bottom fishing will yeild a fish box full of tasty treats like snapper, grouper, flounder, sea bass, etc. I have to imagine that if you decide to escape the cold, you will be glad you did.
